Originating across the pond in Chicago, House music has become one of the most popular genres in both clubs and the mainstream pop scene. The original Ibiza sound has since grown, producing multiple sub-genres: Acid, Minimal, Progressive, Fidget, Disco, Psy… The list goes on. Even though we have moved on from the era of “Yazz” and “The only way is up”, stark influences have been derived to modern day House. The hypnotic and trance like style of Acid continues to thrive in the underground, artists Luke Vibert and Ceefax Acid Crew ensure this remains true. Bristolian Daniel Pearce aka Eats Everything, develops influence from a multitude of genres to produce a fresh original sound. Julio Bashmore yet another Bristolian (detect a pattern), similarly innovating the House scene with his contemporary production style. Guaranteeing you always hear something different- keep an eye out for these two. The likes of Daft Punk and Deadmau5 have broken through the mainstream hurdle, making it hard to catch them in sticky floored venues. Look to bigger venues like O2 arenas or festivals.
